Writing

I've had some fantastic opportunities to write and perform poetry, monologues and short stories. I'm now focusing on my playwriting and hopefully will be able to update you with details of my first play someday soon!!

'Ma Smith'

Luton Graphic Novel

March 2020

I had the fantastic opportunity to contribute a story for Nicole Mollet's Luton Graphic Novel, alongside a number of fantastic Luton writers. My story was based on an interview I conducted with Betty Smith. A Luton resident all her life, Betty is a member of one of Luton's oldest Gypsy familes, the Smiths (Luton-based since the 1930s!) She was very touched to see her story immortalised by Nicole's beautiful drawings!

'Light Bulb Moments'

#BeLitLuton

September 2019

Light Bulb Moments was a commissioned piece by Revoluton Arts for the #BeLitLuton launch of their light installation in Wellington Street Underpass. I asked people to send me their 'Light Bulb Moment' via social media and the response was amazing! The poem was then fashioned out of these contributions and the response on the night was wonderful...

A recording of the poem has also been featured as part of BBC Upload.

'We've Chosen Here Monologues'

Luton Presents-Roundabout Festival

October 2018

Luton Presents was a night of new Luton writing as part of the Paines Plough's Roundabout Festival. I submitted my 'We've Chosen Here Monologues' which were based on memorial plaques found on benches along the Falmouth (Cornwall) coastline. The feedback from these monologues went on to inspire a community podcast project which can be found here.
